Introduction By publishing some of the most satisfying images from his first three years of landscape photography, Per Porter has sought to share his world. It is a place where local dog-walks through Runnymede’s historic meadows, holidays on Dorset’s Jurassic Coast and expeditions to Iceland’s geological spectacles all provide opportunities to explore light, colour and form. Above all, this book illustrates a personal journey that has taken its creator deeper into the landscape even as he delved deeper into the discipline of photography. The act of looking harder has revealed so much beyond the immediate view, from the forces that formed it to the lives that shaped it. The title 36EXPOSURES developed from a concept of the potential within a single roll of film. Life, of course, is never so simple. In reality, capturing these images took many rolls of film, as well as many miles of travel carrying camera equipment. Still, in an age when images are so casually snapped and saved, less truly can be more. Foreword by Robert Fitzmaurice. Three images from the book were featured in the last Amateur Photographer landscape special issue.
