I've written before about becoming sufficiently familiar with camera operation and image-making workflow to be able to work in cold, dark and unfriendly conditions like these. The rocks were dry, so I had to work where they were being washed by the incoming waves. With more than six stops of filter attached, I could see virtually nothing through the viewfinder! The exposure was about 15 seconds.
