Arran tree and water

ARRAN | tree and water | March 2010 | 45229A

This almost monochrome image was a response to the standard problem with waterfalls: how do you come away with something that hasn't been done by everybody else! The flow of the water over this waterfall is chaotic and so is the network of tree branches. What initially appear to be patterns are not - they never repeat themselves. Fractal forms are one of the reasons that landscapes are so complex and varied.
