Arran Drumadoon Point

ARRAN | Drumadoon Point | March 2010 | 45407A

Researching the geology of Arran requires you to travel back in time, to periods in history when the climate and landscape were very different. These Tertiary igneous sills and dykes (60 million years old) were probably formed when the Atlantic Ocean opened. I had one good evening on Arran, and returned to this spot to try to distil my feelings in one image. I am pleased with the results. Strong forms and colours help to reveal the magic!
