Helvetia

GOWER | Wreck of the Helvetia | January 2007 | 25608

The Helvetia was beached on Rhossili Bay in 1887, and its remains are accessible at low tide. In January, the sun sets behind the distant promentary, called Worms Head. All the ingredients for a striking image, especially if you add high winds - see the waves crashing against the rocks in the distance. I particularly like the mercury sheen of the wet sand. And yes, I was sinking into it quite fast.
