The sheer scale of the open savannah comes as a shock to someone used to a densely populated country with crowded spaces. Recent rains have transformed the colour
of the grasses and ensured that the tree survives, even if it doesn't rain again for another decade or so. I like the layering of the distant hills and soft dawn light,
filtered through the moist air.
