The shifting sands are a tough environment for grasses, and yet these are the dominant form of plant life. They wither and die having sown seeds that can endure arid conditions for years before rainfall transforms the desert again. One of the challenges of photography in such places is knowing where to tread so that you can get where you want to go but the viewer cannot see how you got there!
